Well, considering that I am completely new to this and it is our first assignment...I guess I will just write about my life and interests?
Hmmm let's see...I am the oldest of two children, I have a younger brother (Garrett) who is 11. I also have a "brother" who is not blood related that is 6 weeks older than me (Loren), and an older "sister" who is 22 (Ariel), she also attends CBU.
I grew up in a Christian home, and attending Nuevo Community Church (a small church in my hometown).
I was homeschooled until the eleventh grade, at that point I began attending Nuview Bridge Early College High School (a charter school), where I was able to take classes at RCC while I was in High School. I graduated in 2009 in the Valedictory Circle with my high school diploma and an A.A. in Humanities and an A.S. in Natural Sciences. (I'm not smart, just an over-achiever hehe)
I have always loved to write and I think I am quite good at it, and I have also always been interested in media, sooooo Journalism seemed to be the best fit for me.
I plan on joining the Navy Reserves after I get my Bachelor's Degree and Iwill be able to join the Officer Program with my level of education (: I am hoping that with a journalism degree as well as military training I will stand out when trying to pursue a career.
My major interests include, softball (I am hoping to try-out for CBU's team next year), horseback riding, ice skating (though I am not very good hehe), writing (obviously!), and hanging out with the few good friends that I have.
I also really love music, I started playing guitar when I was ten and soon moved to drums, bass, and piano. BY THE WAY, if there are any musicians in this class, I am selling my Fender bass with an amp and gig bag for $100 (:
I would love to write about sports for The Banner, I am a bit of a "tomboy" and I know quite a bit about sports, I was a cheerleader in high school so I know a lot about Football and Basketball, I go to a lot of Hockey games, although that probably wouldn't be relevant here...it's still good to know, right? (: I have also played softball for many years and so I know the rules and gameplay of softball and baseball very well. I enjoy volleyball but it isn't one of my strong points. I also come from a big soccer family (I never got into it myself but I know quite a bit about it), I have this cousin...some of you MAY know who he is...his name is Carlos Bocanegra...for those of you who aren't into soccer, he is the captain of the US national team hehe. With all that said, I would love to write about sports (:
I also enjoy photography, I wouldn't call myself a photographer, but I'm learning (:
I am a big fan of modern art, I have two Picasso's and two Kandinsky paintings in my room.
I love fashion, I can't afford nice clothes but I do what I can with a low budget hehe.
